Quotes from parents:

Mother of 3 – accessing drop-in- “my children play, I make friends, we are happy”

Mother of 2 boys - accessing advice & social work, pre-school, drop-in – “do you know how it feels when you are struggling and struggling and you feel that no-one is ever going to help. Then you come to families’ project and there is the help and my children can play and I can talk to someone who listens and now I feel like I can deal with my sons and things will get better”

Mother & Father of 3 year old- accessing pre-school and managers supporting further via SEN liaison with nursery – “We cannot say how happy we are with the support we have got, it has made such a difference, our son coming here, and how they have encouraged us to talk to the nursery when we have a problem, it is so good we can talk to staff and they help”

Mother of 3 facing eviction - accessing our social work & advice sessions & pre-school – “before I came here no-one listened or explained things so I can understand. Now I can understand and I feel better, I feel like someone is helping me”

Single mother of 2 1/2 yr old living in hostel accommodation- accessing 1:1 emotional and advice support, drop-in  and pre-school- " as a single mother without relations in a foreign country I had no help and time to recover emotionally and physically after my marriage broke down - since I have been bringing my son to Shepherds Bush Families Project my life become easier. My son loves the play centre and has made lots of friends. I have been getting help regarding my housing situation and whenever I need help I can turn to the charity"

Mother of 5 living in 2 bedroom accommodation – accessing drop-in-   " I come here - my children play - I have no space in my house for my children to play, my daughter plays, enjoys and meets different people. I have no windows in my kitchen and my bathroom and it makes my daughter asthma bad when I cook."

Mother of 3 in temporary accommodation – accessing advice and social work support, pre-school & after school club- "my children come here- use playgroup and after school club - when my youngest son is in playgroup I can go shopping or if I have appointments - I am able to go to college 3 days a week. When it was a very bad time for us, Shepherds Bush Families Project was very big help to me. I was 6 weeks in a hotel without any cooking facility, at that time I could cook at project, use washing machine and get help. In this project I meet lots of friends from different countries and we enjoy. All the children can meet  and they enjoy each other. I cannot explain to you about family project - they are like Mum and Dad - look like family."

Mother of 2 year old- accessing parent & baby relational group & drop-in - "I go to families project because it is good for me and my daughter, we do not have any family in this country and I work shifts .  It is hard for me to socialise (my husband looks after my daughter while he looks for work to fit in with my shifts). I attend the mother and baby group -   get advice and different points of view about feeding and sleeping problems. My daughter can play in a big play space with lots of toys and make friends and get used to other people.

Quotes from Children and young people:

Young person – “it mean so much knowing that my mum can come to families project when she is in difficulties, it is very hard to help but I know they are here, they will help my mum and us (younger sibling)”
6 year old (SEN) – accessing after school club – “I like it, I can dress up and the girl helps me”
9 year old accessing after school and holiday provision – “why can’t you do more days, it is better to come here, my mum will bring my baby sister to little kids playgroup”
10 Year old – attending after school and holiday provision, mother sought help with form filling- I am glad you helped my mum, she can get the job, she will be happier.
15 year old - family attends the centre and she undertook part of her Duke of Edinburgh Award here-  "This centre gives a positive environment for many children. It gives a stable place where I could do my homework, it also gave me a safe place to play. It is a reliable centre in which children can play and not be on the streets getting involved in crime."
